Lanzini
Really great 'buy', works hard, a team player who scores and assists. Is he on loan, if so I sincerely hope we sign him up before we get to the transfer window?

Re: Lanzini
It'll be interesting whether Billic now picks Obiang to play in the centre given that he hasn't featured much or will he opt for Song?

Re: Lanzini
Song and Noble/ Obiang slightly behind Kouyate pushing forward, with Moses in his current position and Lanzini in Payet's recent position on the left drifting infield...might shore up the defensive side of things a little, and let's face it we've had much worse midfields than that even without a major injury. This guy is the real deal.

I know they play different roles, but I've seen lanzini drop deeper when needed and he's so comfortable on the ball and confident to play out with both feet, he's the real deal for me.

Brilliant start from him and looks a cracking player. Big ask for him to step into Payets shoes tho.

Lanzini has proved he can play wide left or right and as a no.10. Plus he he made that clearance off the line that so upset MOURHEENYO.

He's a class act and Sullivan had better not fuck up that agreed deal.

"reminds me of veratti"

Praise indeed to compare him to one of the best young players in Europe.

Not the same type of player, beyond the similarity in technique. Veratti is more of an out and out midfielder, great technique but less tricky than Lanzini and less of a goal threat.

No doubt though, I look forward to watching Lanzini play every week.

Sakho is a bigger miss than Payet

Re: Lanzini
Remains to be seen Scott.
Imho we can't replace Payet no matter how good our squad is. We struggled to score and pick up points without Sakho.

Only thing that would negate Payet's injury would be Song getting back in the team and back to the form he was showing for us a year ago.

So frustrating as a fit and playing well Song would have taken us on another level if p
Payet had stayed fit.

Mr P

for the first time in I don't know how long we have a squad that can cope with injuries to some key players

---

Exactly! We've missed our first choice defensive partnership for a few fixtures, we've had Carroll out for most of the season, Valencia is suffering his second spell on the sidelines and we're still sitting 6th.

Yes it's a shame to lose Payet but I honestly think we can cope.

West Ham teams of old would be screwed but finally we have a squad with quality in reserve.

Re: Lanzini
In a 4-2-1-2-1 I fully expect him to move from his Midfield position to on of the two supporting the striker.

As things stand i'd go:

..........................Adrian

Jenko.... Tomkins....Reid.....Cresswell

.................Noble (C)... Obiang

........................Kouyate

...........Moses...............LANZINI

......................Sakho

As big a miss that Payet will obviously be, for the first time in I don't know how long we have a squad that can cope with injuries to some key players

to be fair Payets role is where he played pretty much his whole career up till now so he should be ok with it

Re: Lanzini
I try to be cautious about great signings seem to that come from nowhere. Often they're just Ilungas or Schemmels. Decent players that are in an amazing run of form that won't last forever.

I wouldn't personally put too much pressure on him by asking him to take Payet's place in the team. I'd like to see us go back to a couple of strikers again.

I'd never heard of him before he signed but he's been outstanding.

Re: Lanzini
Behind Payet he is our best singing of the summer window. With Payet out for 3 months will be interesting to see what he can do! I for one love him and really hope he can perform whilst Payet is out. If he can we have a gem on our hands here and I would make singing him permanently in January our main target. Hopefully without a rubbish buy out clause like other players have had

lanzini often lines up centrally, he and payet swap a lot during the game.

Veratti is a proper player. If Lanzini gets close to him I will be well chuffed.

Smashing player, great ability confidence and tremendous work rate, reminds me of veratti and I think he can develop into that role as well.

He gets the collyrob stamp of approval

>>> I think Lanzini would be fucking deadly in the middle.

He started centrally on Saturday, and at Watford. I didn't see the Chelsea game but I presume he played centrally there too.

Annony 1:20 Mon Nov 9
Re: Lanzini
He is our best player after Payet without hesitation. Although I have been impressed with Obiang and Ogbonna although they haven't played as much to judge. I thought as many due to his size that he would get muscled off the ball as Valencia seems to, not so.
